Abstract

Description

The digital file consists of three issues of the Tex Talks publication published by the Texas Tech Ex-Students Association. The April 1963 issue is eight pages long and includes such topics as groundbreaking for two new dormitories; appointment of three new members to the Board of Directors; Tech May Day celebrations; retirement of the last original Tech faculty and the passing of Ray C. Mowery; the donation of the R. Wright Amstrong papers to the Southwest Collection; KTXT-TV broadcasting of three college courses; Tech becoming a member of ASULGC; a professor's article on the reality of the Berlin Wall in Germany; and various updates on the activities of the Ex-Students Association.
The August 1963 issue is eight pages long and includes such topics as expansion of the Ph.D. program; razing of the College Inn building; Tech Day celebrations; silver cups sold by the Ex-Students Association for the college's silver anniversary; various faculty changes; two female feature twirlers in the Tech Band; donations to KTXT-TV; and starting salaries for Tech graduates.
The October 1963 issue is eight pages long and includes such topics as the name change for Texas Tech; Elmer Tarbox nominated for Sports Illustrated's silver anniversary All-American Award; G. C. "Mule" Dowell and J. O. "Dell" Morgan being elected to the Texas Tech's Athletic Hall of Honor; growth of the college over 25 years; Tech having the third largest student enrollment; Douglas "Nubbin" Holler following in his brother's footsteps as the newest Masked Rider; Ernest Wallace's latest book; the kidnapping and painting of the horse Tech Beauty; the student infirmary; a new "bandwagon" vehicle for the Tech Band; rare books added to the Southwest Collections' holdings; the new Traffic Board to hear student appeals; and the sixth woman to serve as editor of The Daily Toreador.
