Description

"The Catalyst" is comprised of 12 pages of student written articles, editorials, satires and political statements. This issue included numerous poems and covered topics such as the Zapruder Film; criticism of Roger Settler; Tech Police filming a Vietnam War Moratorium protest at the Student Union Building; other Vietnam War Moratorium activities; student activism on the Tech campus; criticism of Lubbock A-J's journalist Charlie Guy; the assimilation of "Chicanos"; criticism of Dr. William Gillis; Alaskan natives versus the oil industry; massacre at My Lai; campus violence; legalization of abortion; General William C. Westmoreland; John Howard and JOIN (Jobs or Income Now); rioting in Montreal; deserters; Chicano solidarity; riots in South Africa over aparteid; Bill of Rights Day; the "Board of Regents Marching Song"; a review of "The Electric Kool-Aid Test"; effects of marijuana use; Reis Lopez Tijerinal criticism of Charlie Guy; criticism of students citing the Pledge of Allegiance"; and Kim Agnew. The issue is the Gala Christmas Edition and sold for 25 cents.
