Description

"The Catalyst" is comprised of 12 pages of student written articles, editorials, satires and political statements. This issue covered topics such as a recount of the successful settlement of The Catalyst lawsuit; financial straits of the Lubbock chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union; criticism of the Vietnam war; reprint of Molly Ivins article on returning to Texas; radical responsibility; criticim of the Lubbock Police Department; the Lubbock Greenlawn Church of Christ's "Reasons Why Christians Should Not Dance"; a student protest to lower the Tech flags in honor of the Kent State shootings; Criticism of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal's portrayal of Coach Jim Carlen during the aftermath of the Lubbock Tornado; views on sexuality on the Tech campus; the flag as a symbol; growing marijuana; and reviews of music records. The issue is dated August 26 - September 8, 1970, and sold for 25 cents.
